Spanish company Navantia will attend for the first time Defence exhibition MSPO, which will take place 7-10 September in Kielce (Poland). Navantia stand (E17) will focus particularly on its F-100 frigate and on the new, state-of-the-art submarine S-80.
A Navantia proposal based on its multipurpose frigate F-100 has been recently shortlisted by the Polish Ministry of Defence in a competition to build three multi-mission frigates in a Transfer of Tecnology (ToT) program.
F-100 is a mature design, already in service for the Spanish Navy that has been the starting point for successful export contracts to Norway and Australia. Navantia has long track in the design and construction of a wide range of frigates, with proven flexibility, therefore, to suit the needs of the Polish Navy.
At MSPO, Navantia will exhibit a F-100 based ‘Navantis’, the company advanced training environment to reduce the risks and operating costs as well as to increase the knowledge and capabilities of the crews. The company will also show a ‘Navantis avatar’ of its AOR ship and a model of S-80, the first submarine designed and built by a Spanish company, already launched in Navantia shipyard. S-80 will be the most advanced conventional submarine, thanks in part to its air-independent propulsion system (AIP) that will boost its stealth.
Navantia and the Miecznik program
The Miecznik program envisages the construction of three multi-mission frigates at the local PGZ shipyard in Gdynia through a ToT contract with an international company, a business model in which Navantia has a robust experience.
Navantia is now participating in the Viability Phase run by PGZ in order to propose a design for the Miecznik Program that further adjusts to the requirements of the Inspectorate of Armament of the Polish Ministry of Defence.
The company has also proved its ability to efficiently execute different models of ToT programs that have helped develop local capabilities in shipbuilding and life cycle support. It is a business model of high added value in which Navantia has success stories through its contracts in Turkey, Saudi Arabia or Australia.

Navantia also participates in Baltexpo conferences in Gdansk. Jorge Garcia Monedero, Commercial Director for Services, will make a presentation about “Key factors to reach industrial sovereignty” in which Navantia experience in ToT programs will be showcased.
Finally, Navantia will be present too in the second part of Baltexpo, which will be focused in offshore wind industry, an area where the company is already a relevant player.
