Navantia IPMS as tool for managing reduction
The “Managing Reduction” is not an absolute concept. Not only because Navantia will make a reduction from an original number of operators, but also is needed to consider in which condition the managing reduction will be done. Navantia always considers that the reduction will be from a current similar ship (in size, and missions) and the condition will maintain the same control and safety levels.
Navantia is an experienced IPMS provider with over 25 years of experience on more than 90 ships operated by various navies worldwide. To implement this IPMS concept, Navantia has developed a framework tool called COMPLEX/SIMPLEX (Control and Monitoring of PLatforms Extensible / SIMulation of PLatforms Extensible). The COMPLEX/SIMPLEX development has been executed from the scratch, considering the requirements and operational procedures for the warship of most advanced Navies.
The decisions in a warship are ultimately the responsibility of the Commanding Officer, therefore, in order to take the most appropriate decisions, it is necessary to have the best knowledge of the situation, using the data provided by the sensors of the vessel.
