The S-81 Isaac Peral submarine has carried out mooring trials, which means putting its propeller in motion for the first time.

The mooring test took place at Navantia´s Cartagena shipyard, where the S-81 has been built and is currently undergoing the harbour trials.

The mooring test enables the propulsion system and the shaft line to be verified with the submarine moored to the quay with autonomous power supply from its batteries.

With this test, the S-81 has successfully approved the sixth safety milestone following the embarkation and charging of batteries electrical power-up, set afloat of the submarine, the first start-up of the diesel generators and the first battery charging.

The S-81 the first submarine designed and constructed in Spain, was set afloat last May, following a christening ceremony headed by His Majesty the King of Spain.
