Navantia passes the S-81’s first security milestone: energizing

FacebookTwitter

Navantia’s Cartagena Shipyard has carried out the controls and conducted the tests needed to power up the S-81 submarine “Isaac Peral”, i.e., passing the vessel’s first safety milestone.

Powering up is when the vessel is electrically energized for the first time. It involves putting into operation the main and emergency electrical distribution networks, which means that all the items of the submarine’s equipment can be gradually and progressively electrified, in order to check that they are working properly, both individually and as part of the rest of the equipment as a whole.

This milestone is a major step forward in performing this submarine construction programme. The programme consists of constructing four units for the Spanish Navy.
