On 24th. November, Iberdrola and Navantia have signed, in London, the contract for the construction of the electrical substation for the offshore wind farm East Anglia 1 (United Kingdom). The contract includes the construction of one module, its structure supports (Jacket) and the offshore support for the connection in the North Sea.
During the next months, Navantia and Iberdrola will be working in the development of the engineering as well as in other activities with the aim to assure the deadlines and quality in the main supplies. The fabrication will begin next spring in Puerto Real facilities and will be finished in the approximate space of 2 years with the installation of the jacket and the module in the North Sea.
On the other hand, Navantia also has an agreement for the construction of 42 jackets for East Anglia 1. These jackets will be fabricated in Navantia facilities in Fene, in the Ferrol area.
The decision of Iberdrola takes place as culmination of a very competitive tender with the participation of the main European shipyards and companies in the wind sector. This new adjudication represents a great step in to Navantia’s consolidation in the offshore wind sector and gives continuity to the contracts already executed for Wikinger, which have been completed to total satisfaction of Iberdrola.
