Located at the Madrid headquarters, the Smart Ships Navantia COEX develops innovative ship design concepts that are sustainable and energy‑efficient, modular and adaptable, with a high degree of digitalisation, automation and connectivity enabling the deployment of digital twins for operation and maintenance with a high level of cybersecurity.
Smart Ships
The mission of the Smart Ships Navantia COEX is to lead the ideation and creation of innovative ship concepts, ensuring the competitiveness of Navantia’s commercial catalogue while meeting cost and corporate responsibility commitments.
Work areas
They leverage new technologies applied to ship design in propulsion and power generation concepts, operating environments, eco‑design principles and circular economy, modular solutions, product experiences and combat systems.
Concepts
Smart Ship concepts must place the user/operator at the centre, seek differentiation and adapt to market needs in coordination with the other centres of excellence.
Facilities and team
The Smart Ships Navantia COEX is based in Madrid and has more than 60 engineers from different specialities. We revolutionise engineering processes by developing advanced design methodologies and tools powered by algorithms and artificial intelligence. Our goal is to maximise productivity and optimise designs, placing support for the engineer at the heart of our mission, enabling them to focus on tasks that truly add value.
