Shipyard 5.0: the digital and sustainable revolution driving the future of shipbuilding with technology, talent, and efficiency

Thanks to industrial robotization and the use of Artificial Intelligence, processes are automated, reducing both the timeline and the cost of operations. We design and develop the plant and process digital twin on which to monitor, control, predict, simulate, act, and optimize industrial management and production. Mobile applications and collaborative environments enable the integration of the supply chain, providing transparency and traceability throughout the value chain.

Shipyard 5.0 translates into state‑of‑the‑art facilities at our sites:
- Digital Block Factory (Ferrol, A Coruña)
- Flat Open‑Unit Workshop (San Fernando, Cádiz)
- Flat Panel Workshop (Puerto Real, Cádiz)
We are committed to sustainability across all our operations. Our shipyards are moving towards a circular economy with the goal of zero waste.

At Navantia, We Drive Growth, Innovation, and Employment

Navantia’s activities generate growth and employment in the regions where our shipyards are located and throughout Spain. We work with a broad ecosystem of partner industries that accompany us in our transformation. We promote R&D+i and have four university chairs: José Romero Landa (Polytechnic University of Madrid), Isaac Peral (Polytechnic University of Cartagena), José Patiño Rosales (Cádiz), and Cosme Álvarez de los Ríos (A Coruña).

In addition, we have a Joint Research Unit (UMI) with the University of A Coruña and agreements with vocational training centers.

Our organizational and management policies help ensure proper operation across all areas and levels of the company.

F110, the 21st Century Frigate

Navantia began designing the F-100 frigate in 1996. More than 20 years later, and with 13 ships of this family built in different versions for several countries (Spain, Norway, and Australia), the innovative new F110 aims to maintain Navantia's global leadership as a frigate designer and builder, also providing lifecycle support. The F-110 is a multipurpose platform representing a technological leap toward the smart ship. It incorporates Industry 4.0 technologies that improve construction, operation, and lifecycle management.
