Navantia Systems once again demonstrated the integration of unmanned vehicles into SCOMBA NG, its next-generation digital architecture, during the REPMUS 2026 exercises organized by NATO in Troia, Portugal. Having participated in these exercises since 2022, Navantia used this edition to validate the evolution of NAIAD and test new capabilities in an operational environment.

For this year's exercise, NAIAD was deployed across three locations: a node in Troia, an onboard node aboard the A-61 Carnota, and a node at the Navantia COEX Laboratory, which monitored operations throughout the exercise. Communications between the nodes primarily relied on secured satellite links and radio-based MESH network connectivity, complemented to a lesser extent by a 5G bubble due to the limitations of the operational environment. This distributed configuration enabled the sharing of a Common Operational Picture (COP) and live exercise video among the different stations, demonstrating NAIAD's ability to operate as a federated and scalable service in multinational operational experimentation scenarios.
In addition, Navantia Systems established an exhibition area where military authorities attending the exercise were able to explore the latest SCOMBA NG capabilities and functionalities.

The REPMUS 2026 demonstration represents one of Navantia's first steps toward distributed and collaborative naval systems. With NAIAD as its first operational example, ships, unmanned vehicles, and command centers will be able to share information and capabilities, enabling faster and more effective responses to complex threats.
