Navantia's Joint Support Ship (JSS) is a strategic platform designed for amphibious operations, logistics and humanitarian missions. With capacity for 300 embarked troops, vehicles, helicopters and landing craft, it offers a versatile solution for joint force projection.
It integrates a large dock, double hangars, flight deck and cargo area, as well as an at-sea refuelling capability (RAS/FAS) with fuel, water and supplies. It includes full medical facilities, with operating theatres, ICU and laboratory.
It is equipped with an advanced combat system, tactical data links, airborne and electro-optical surveillance sensors, and CIWS defences and electronic countermeasures.
A multi-purpose vessel ready to support sustained operations in any theatre.
Designed as a versatile naval support solution, the Joint Support Ship is designed to integrate multiple logistical and operational capabilities into a single platform. Its functions include cargo and personnel transport, replenishment at sea, amphibious projection and medical support. Its flexible design allows it to adapt to different operational scenarios and provide sustained support to deployed units.
High-performance multi-mission platform
The JSS combines the functions of a logistics ship, hospital, command centre and humanitarian support in a single platform. This capability reduces the need for multiple specialised units, optimises resources and increases tactical flexibility in complex naval scenarios.
Sustainable offshore logistics
Equipped with RAS (replenishment at sea) refuelling systems, the JSS ensures continuous supply of fuel, food, water and ammunition to other units, extending their range and allowing extended operations without the need for a home port.
Mando y control para operaciones conjuntas
It integrates state-of-the-art C4ISR systems, which enable it to act as a floating operational planning and coordination centre. It is capable of interoperating with NATO allies and other multinational forces, making it a strategic asset in international missions.
Large-scale human and medical support
It has extensive accommodation capacities for additional personnel and a Role 2 hospital with operating theatres, ICU and triage rooms. This equipment makes it an essential platform for humanitarian relief or emergency response operations.
