COEX Green Energies
Innovation in sustainable energies

Innovation, technology and industrial expertise serving the energy transition

The Green Energies COEX promotes innovation, development and the transfer of knowledge, talent and entrepreneurship in the sustainable energy sector. It does so by collaborating with customers, strategic partners, the supply chain, SMEs, sector associations and R&D&I agents. In this way, it drives development, innovation and competitiveness, strengthening the value chain and expanding strategic capabilities in offshore wind, hydrogen and other ocean energies.

Our Mission
Promotes innovation, development and the transfer of knowledge, talent and entrepreneurship in the sustainable energy sector
Leadership
Green Energies leads the technological development of ocean‑linked renewables to ensure a profitable and sustainable business that also boosts Europe’s energy transition.
Drive
We strengthen business growth and empower the supply chain in key sectors such as offshore wind, green hydrogen and emerging ocean energies, with European energy autonomy and sustainability as strategic pillars.
Facilities and Team
The Green Energies COEX has three sites located in Fene, Puerto Real and Cartagena. More than 35 professionals from various disciplines collaborate there, including naval, chemical, industrial, mechanical and electronic engineers. This centre acts as a lever for driving and strengthening the industrial fabric around Navantia Seanergies.

COEX Green Energies Projects

ECOFOSS
Led by Navantia Seanergies through the Green Energies COEX, the project also includes the following partners: Red Eléctrica, Sener, Ditrel, Uptech Sensing and Ocean Ecostructures. ECOFOSS aims to develop a zero‑emission, high‑voltage floating wind substation, using a hydrogen plant to supply electricity during maintenance and emergency conditions. ECOFOSS is one of the Primary Projects (PNA‑020100‑2023‑30) included in the flagship project INNCODIS (PNA‑010000‑2023‑1), funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU through the PERTE NAVAL call, launched by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).

SISPROVE
A project led by Navantia with participation from Repsol and HI Iberia to research new sustainable propulsion solutions along with innovative propulsion and generation architectures, as well as the implementation of Artificial Intelligence tools linked to ship propulsion infrastructure, in order to obtain propulsion system designs for maritime transport that are more efficient and have a low environmental impact. Specifically, the Green Energies COEX will develop a calculation tool to select the optimal combination of energy storage and generation technologies based on zero‑emission vectors (green hydrogen or other derivatives) depending on the ship’s characteristics and operations. SISPROVE is one of the Primary Projects (PNA‑020100‑2023‑1) included in the flagship project INNCODIS (PNA‑010000‑2023‑1), funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU through the PERTE NAVAL call, launched by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).

OPPRO
A Navantia Seanergies project developed through the Green Energies COEX to optimise manufacturing processes for large‑scale jackets and, in a second phase, platforms enabling floating wind. A digital tool will be developed to simulate manufacturing flows, integrating suppliers, facilities and the supply chain in order to meet customers’ delivery schedule requirements.

JIP Floating Substations Multiparty
Project phase 2
Navantia Seanergies, through the Green Energies COEX, participates in the JIP Floating Substations Multiparty Project phase 2 led by DNV. The project involves 15 sector companies: IV Offshore and Energy, Scottish Power, Aibel, Hitachi Energy, RTE, Seatrium, Red Eléctrica, Atlantique Offshore Energy, TotalEnergies, GE Vernova, EDF, Statnett, ABB, Semco, COP, Ramboll, Saipem, Orient Cable and CSEPDI. Main objectives include analysing technological and regulatory gaps, establishing best practices and technical requirements for floating substations, qualifying dynamic cables and high‑voltage equipment, and optimising and standardising floater design.

Green Energies partners network
Builds strategic alliances with key partners for knowledge transfer and promotes incubation programmes to foster a technological business ecosystem able to provide solutions in different complementary areas of expertise.
