New materials, designs and manufacturing methods

Advanced manufacturing for an efficient, competitive and sustainable naval sector

The Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence researches and develops new capabilities in key technological areas that improve the competitiveness of Navantia products and reduce their manufacturing cost and lead time, as well as their environmental impact.

Our Mission

The mission of this centre of excellence is to drive innovation and the competitiveness of our products through new materials, designs and production and modularisation technologies, optimising efficiency via experimentation, the development of new concepts and prototypes, and their industrialisation.

Advanced Manufacturing

The reference centre for the transformation towards new processes and materials, consolidating in‑house technological know‑how and leveraging the industrial and innovation ecosystem.

Strategic Alliances

Builds strategic alliances with key partners to foster the generation and transfer of knowledge in new materials, designs and manufacturing methods, encouraging a tech business ecosystem that can provide solutions to the sector’s challenges.

Facilities and Team

The Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence is located in the Bay of Cádiz. A large part of its projects will be carried out at the Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Innovation Center (CFA), promoted by the Regional Government of Andalusia at the Puerto Real Shipyard, in line with Navantia’s commitment to innovation and the strengthening of the industrial ecosystem. Located in Puerto Real, it provides access to more than €13M in high-tech industrial equipment.

Polymeric and metallic Additive Manufacturing equipment with different technologies, sizes and materials.

Large‑format thermoplastic FDM 3D printer (LFAM) with robotic integration.

Real Ship Motion Simulation Platform. ROV equipment and aerial/submarine drones.

More than 60 people with extensive experience in the naval, industrial and defence sectors.

On‑board 3D printing

Project included in PERTE Naval to develop a stabilisation system that validates the use of small‑format polymer 3D printing technology on board a ship in an operational environment. The objective is to develop a stabilising cell that ensures the correct application of the manufacturing method for parts, ensuring the process remains stable and meets the requirements of the naval sector.

Naval Systems partners network

Builds strategic alliances with key partners for knowledge transfer and promotes incubation programmes to foster a technological business ecosystem able to provide solutions in different complementary areas of expertise.
