Strategic Power for Platforms that Make History
Since 1947, Navantia has been a benchmark in engine manufacturing, building a track record of more than seven decades in the service of defence and industry, both naval and land‑based. This experience, combined with constant innovation and a strong technological vocation, enables Navantia to offer robust, efficient propulsion solutions tailored to the most demanding environments.
The Engines area of Navantia Services develops and supplies a full range of products that includes naval propulsion systems for all types of ships, from frigates to submarines, as well as engines for military land vehicles.
Navantia’s Engine Factory has state‑of‑the‑art facilities: induction furnaces, high‑precision CNC machinery, more than 5,000 m² dedicated to assembly and test benches with capacities of up to 10,000 kW. This infrastructure allows both series production and customised projects, as well as demanding validation tests.
Navantia has developed repowering programmes for the Spanish Army, such as the M‑60 and AMX‑30 battle tanks, and has supplied propulsion equipment for the Leopard tank and the Pizarro cavalry fighting vehicle. In the naval domain, its engines have powered some of the most advanced platforms built by Navantia and exported worldwide, such as: F‑100 frigates (Spain) and F‑310 (Norway); Scorpène submarines (Chile) and S‑80 (Spain); strategic projection ships (Spain, Australia, Turkey); BAC logistics ships (Spain) and AAOR (Australia); Maritime Action Ships and POV/BVL patrol vessels (Spain and Venezuela); AWD destroyers (Australia).
The Engines division of Navantia Services does more than deliver power: it delivers tailor‑made solutions, cutting‑edge technology and a commitment to quality that crosses borders. It is the silent force driving the mobility, safety and operability of the world’s most demanding platforms.
