The Commonwealth of Australia has announced the AWD Program Reform arrangements for an interim phase, where Navantia will increase its participation on the program and play an important role in putting the program on track. A team of skilled Navantia personnel will arrive in Australia to support the construction of the AWD at the ASC shipyard in South Australia.
Navantia is fully confident of the outcomes from this collaboration with the AWD Program. This will bring the expertise of Navantia as a builder of five (5) F-100 Frigates, the sister ship of the Spanish Navy AWDs. Navantia will closely collaborate with ASC, BAE and Alliance members to improve the current status of the Program.
The participation of Navantia in this Interim Phase Contract plus the opening of the Technical Operation Center in Adelaide in November 2014 will contribute significantly to consolidate Navantia Australia as an Australian Company in engineering and project management, to deliver its best services to Defence in Australia.
