Navantia and General Electric formalized on 20th. October, the signing of a license agreement by which Navantia is authorized to perform the maintenance, overhaul and repair of the gas turbine type LM2500 Marine. The agreement, signed by Dave Nelson, Global Sales Director General Electric and Navantia President Esteban García Vilasánchez, came after having signed a previous agreement on July 7.

This long-term agreement will allow NAVANTIA to develop a new line of activity with the Spanish Navy and worldwide.

The agreement will reinforce Navantia’s value proposition with regard to Life Cycle Support for both Navantia and other Navy ships.

The first result of this license is the next collaboration agreement between the Spanish Navy and Navantia to provide support and technical assistance in the maintenance of the LM2500 turbines, for which they will sign a contract that will include all the ships of the Spanish Navy.

The Ferrol Turbine Plant is being equipped with the necessary capacities for the development of the activity and a high qualification of the personnel that will give the support of maintenance to the turbines. In this sense, six Ría de Ferrol technicians have recently completed their training phase at General Electric’s Houston facility to receive the necessary training.

This collaboration is very important for the Turbine Plant in Ferrol, since it opens a new line of business based on a prestigious product, high technological level and great added value and opens expectations of new business opportunities with General Electric, market leader in this field.
