MINERVA is Navantia's Integrated Navigation Bridge System (INBS) solution, designed to integrate navigation equipment and facilitate navigation management, control of vital systems and monitoring of the ship's environment. Its objective is to guarantee safe operations and manoeuvres, especially in restricted, shallow and coastal waters. In addition, MINERVA supports decision making, reduces operator reaction time and contributes to mission success through safer and more efficient operation.

Its main advantages include high adaptability to different configurations and missions, reduced costs and response times, and secure navigation thanks to redundancy in data, capabilities and network. Its open and simplified architecture reduces cabling and facilitates integration. It features an ergonomic console, standardised modules and scalable and redundant multi-function displays (MFDs), complying with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) standards.

MINERVA offers full integration with other Navantia systems such as IPMS (COMPLEX-SIMPLEX), ICCS (NAVCOMS and HERMESYS) and CMS (CATIZ), as well as compatibility with third-party systems such as CCTV and electro-optical surveillance (EOSS). Thanks to its modular design and multifunctional capability, it provides a robust, scalable solution adapted to today's navigation requirements.

MINERVA is Navantia's complete Integrated Bridge and Navigation System (IBNS) solution contributing to mission success, facilitating decision making for safe navigation and reducing operator reaction time.

MINERVA is made up of a set of interrelated systems whose mission is to facilitate the management of the ship's navigation, control its vital systems and supervise its environment. All of this with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of navigation operations and manoeuvres in restricted, shallow and/or coastal waters.

Data Distribution System

The Minerva Data Distribution System is responsible for the collection, processing and distribution of official navigation and environmental data to the other on-board systems.

C4IP

The C4IP concept, or C4ISR plus Integrated Platform Management System, integrates military command and control capabilities (C4ISR) with integrated platform management systems (IPMS) to improve situational awareness, decision making and operational effectiveness. Benefits: Increased platform uptime, reduced maintenance costs and improved operational efficiency.

System Management (SysMan)

This element of the Integrated Navigation System performs essential functions to ensure the proper functioning of the system. Among its main tasks are the supervision of the status and availability of both software and hardware, as well as the visualisation of the status of the different elements and components that make up the system.

In addition, it provides fault protection through immediate action and alerts, manages the start-up of specific functions and manages the operation windows. All these functions are key to ensuring the efficiency and safety of the system during navigation operations.

Training

Realistic shore-based training using consoles and emulators of Information Centre equipment and with a fully integrated bridge. Continuous safe on-board training while maintaining surveillance and security capability.

Adaptability

Minerva adapts to the ship, its capabilities and its mission, with an open architecture that allows the client to add and remove equipment as required.

Safe navigation

Full integration with electronic aids for safe navigation. Radar, WECDIS and Conning are the cornerstones of MINERVA.

COEX Naval System

This product is developed at the COEX Naval System centre.
