The Meteoro, against piracy

The Spanish Navy MAV Meteoro began in April its third participation in the European Atalanta mission against piracy in the western Indian Ocean. The Meteoro replaced on this occasion the Spanish Combat Supply Ship Cantabria, both built by Navantia.

In its fight against piracy in this area, the Meteoro provides protection, mainly, to the ships of the World Food Program of the UN and to the fishing vessels that fish in these waters.
